1. Can you cook? Quite well, I must say. And I try to most every night.

2. What was your dream growing up? Actually, it’s still my dream today: to have a horse farm. Now, it’s matured a little. I want very much to own a farm that is both an agricultural co-op and a horse training facility. Read my bio for more details.

3. What talent do you wish you had? Not long ago I found myself wishing I had not given up ballet. Not because I have a particular love of ballet, but because dancers are so flexible, strong, and graceful.

4. Favorite place? There are so many. A few: Swallow Ridge Farm, where I grew up. Scotland, where I studied and lived as I wanted. A small farm in Southern France nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains and 15 min. from Spain, where I visited my cousin and we wrote to each other for 4 years despite an age difference of several decades. A picture of his backyard sits on my desk and daily inspires me.

5. Favorite colour? Cobalt Blue. But I love so many colors, especially those of nature.

6. What was the last book you read? I am currently reading She Flies Without Wings and The Te of Piglet and just finished Animal Farm and The Tao of Pooh.

7. What zodiac sign are you? Sagittarius

8. Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? I had pierced ears long ago, but I just don’t wear ear rings. I think tattoos are pretty, but I can’t think of anything I want permanently etched on my body. But Henna. I Love Henna.

9. Worst Habit? Bossy and outspoken

10. What is your favorite scene from your favorite movie? What Dreams May Come Is full of the most beautiful scenes. I love sweeping landscapes with vibrant color. And those purple flowers stick in my mind like bright, bright memories.
11. What is your favorite sport? My horses. But I also love hiking and canoeing. And I love watching American Football.

12. Do you have a Negative or Optimistic attitude? Always optimistic, sometimes fatally so.

13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator for three hours? Assuming I was stuck there with people, I would talk to them. Otherwise I might read, write, or maybe even sing to myself.

14. Worst thing to ever happen to you? When I was thirteen, I was kicked in the head by my first horse. I recovered quite well, but it was pretty awful at the time. When my older brother recalls these stories, it still gives him chills.

15. Tell me one weird fact about you. Due to that kick in the head, my right pupil is always more dilated than my left, which also means it’s always a different color!

16. Do you have any pets? I have quite the menagerie: Joon, my dog; Seamus, my cat; Dash and Sam, my horses. And I’m always trying to add more.

17. What animal do you think suits your personality? A horse or wolf. They need a companion as well as a reliable herd, yet they are able to function well on their own. They are quite clever and independent at times and other times can really enjoy good company.

18. What time is it where you are now? Nearly noon

19. If you could have any super powers, what would they be? Teleporting and telepathy. Then I could see all my friends who are far away and I could finally read my Fiancé’s mind.

20. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? I’m doing it now. I’m exercising, getting into shape, and losing weight.

21. Would you be my partner in crime or my conscience? I can be very mischievous, but I would never do anything that could cause serious harm.

22. What color eyes do you have? Today they are green. They range between green, blue, or grey and change with the light and my mood.

23. What is your faith background? I am Christian, but I also believe that everything has a spirit and has a message to share with us.

24. Favorite season? Without a doubt, Autumn. I even love the name. Mid-spring runs a close second. I love the feeling of change that comes with both seasons.

25. If you won $10,000 dollars today, what would you do with it? Pay off my student loans.

26. Favorite kind of weather and/or temperature? I love those moments when a big storm is rolling in, with a blue, dark sky and the breeze. The smell of electricity and the vibrancy of everything as it waits for the rain. I love the mid-60s to mid-70s during the day and mid-40s at night.

27. What's your favorite bar to hang at? The Wellington. It’s in Broad Ripple. A tiny little hole in the wall with no AC and real darts for the dart board.

28. Do you believe in ghosts? Most certainly. I have come face to face with a few. In college, my dorm was haunted and some days the ghost came to my room and wanted me to leave so she could be alone. Other days she wanted company.

29. Favorite quote? There are far too many good quotes that I like. Two that I seem to quote often though are “Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but rather, a manner of traveling.” And “Never give up until you have released your unused capacity to set hundreds on fire.”

30. Do you swear a lot? I’m better than I was. But yes, quite often enough.

31. Biggest pet peeve? I want to be informed. Even if nothing has changed. Tell me.

32. In one word, how would you describe yourself? Idealist.

33. In one word, how would you describe me? From how I know her, Photographer

It's very rare that I come across people who are always optimistic! I consider this a virtue rather than a flaw. Optimistic people make me feel good. I try to be optimistic but I don't always succeed. So I'm somewhere in the middle, it depends.

And I hear you about the storms rolling in thing. It wasn't until I came to work in the US that I could really see the power of the weather changing on the huge, open plains. My little corner of France seems tiny next to it, a storm would be a storm in a teacup. I need to go for a hike in the Pyrénées this summer or this fall, I miss the mountains.

And I love this quote: Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but rather, a manner of traveling Do you know where it comes from?

I don't. I think it's anonymous. I have a framed picture on my desk that shows horses running through water and this quote is underneath it with the bold word ATTITUDE.

I think of this a lot, as we have a choice about how we will look at each day and each journey. It helps a lot.

Oh, and my reference to fatal optimism ... sometimes I'm still hanging in there, looking for the positive outcome when it has already become more than obvious that no positive outcome is at hand.

Example: An old horse I used to have that was abused. He was crazy as could be, but was very sweet on the ground. We had to destroy him because he was so dangerous. That was about 10 years ago now. And I still find myself saying "I think I could save that one. I know there's a way."

Yes, of course, I understand. Still, I think it's brave to hope for a positive outcome instead of giving up too early because, you never know, you just might be right one day in spite of unlucky previous experiences.
