Out with the old, in with the new
Sep. 1st, 2009 02:03 pmDear Joan, the 1998 Blazer, traveled her last strip of roadway last Thursday. I was hoping she'd be ok, but after talking with my mechanic, it was discovered that she had dropped second gear and it was rattling around somewhere inside her transmission. As if the inevitable weren't already upon me, the situation became critical: I needed a new truck.
A few phone calls, some gnashing of teeth and butting of head later, the decision was made that I would look at a brand new 2009 truck in Terre Haute that my dad had found. He promised it was a good deal. So Jeremy and I made arrangements to get down there Sunday afternoon and see the new ride Monday morning. A little more poking around revealed that I wasn't going to find a better deal. And so, around noon on Monday I signed a contract to buy a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500, 4x4 pickup truck. And of course, all the warranties that come with a brand new truck. I have named him Liam.
Liam is a white regular cab truck, cloth interior, XM radio, OnStar, and an 8 foot bed. I got the dealership to throw in the spray-in bed liner for free. *grin* I got 0% financing for 5 years and I'm paying $15k for him. Mom and dad insisted that they pitch in so that they could feel good about me having a truly safe and reliable truck. They just didn't think my $13K budget would find me what I wanted, especially when i needed it to be a 2003 or younger to get the loan I wanted. Add my request for lower mileage than 50,000 and the pickings got slim. So they insisted, and now I have Liam. And he's fabulous!
