My turn to worry

Thanks to those of you that have drug me out from under the rock I've been living and pointed out that LJ may be in danger of kicking the bucket. I am dutifully trying to back up my journal (around since 2002) with LJBook, though at the moment it seems that everyone else in LJ land is doing the same thing. I will keep trying.

I really hope that LJ does not meet its demise as I really like it here and I like the people on my friend's list. But if it does, I don't know where I will go. I want to continue blogging, I do know that. I'm doing my research to see what blog sites I think I will like. But sadly, many of us will probably part ways.

Thinking of this, I invite all of you to friend me on Facebook. Caroline Wadsworth Johnson if you're interested. I don't keep a journal over there too often...mostly just photos and the comment bar at the top. But I do check it regularly and it's at least a transitional place so I can keep in touch with many of you should we all part ways and find different blogs.

I sincerely hope this forum will remain available, but I shall not risk loosing my entries or my friends without at least leaving a forwarding address.

I've been thinking along similar lines. I _like_ blogging, but I don't much like change. It would be hard for me to get used to a different format and I hate the thought of finding people all over again.

We should all go over to blogspot.com if shit hits the fan. I know a lot of people (including me) have blogspot accounts. It works in coordination with g-mail and allows you to have multiple blogs under the same name. I don't want to change, but that's a good site to go to if we have to...

I like this idea. I will certainly keep you posted, though I really hope that this will all go away and we can keep our LJs.

As for Blogspot, I'm not a huge fan. I'd have to think about that one...I've used it before and not really cared for it.

I can't get archive to work, but the LJ Backup and Search Tool works great.

Does LJArchive work with macs? I've been trying to get LJBook to work for four days now and it is always too busy. grr.

I looked at the LJ Archive program but I think I'm just generally feeling overwhelmed by technology at the moment so it's very confusing to me right now.

I'll move to blogspot too, that's fine by me. But I still hope LJ does ok. And...am so glad you posted this as apparently I was living under the same rock. Nice to see so many backup options available, I tried LJBook for awhile last night with no success, and am now hoping the LJ Backup download works. It appears to be doing its thing. :-)
